Click here to read about events in your state held throughout the month! The National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM) website also lists a dozen ways to support our military and veterans.  From something as simple as flying the flag on your house, car, or business to organizing an event in your community, you too can get involved.  Programs like A Million Thanks, an organization that lets you send an email of letter or thanks to a serviceman or Soldiers Angels, where you can adopt a hero allow YOU to connect with our military and show how important they are to you.

History of National Military Appreciation Month

Congress designated May as National Military Appreciation Month in 1999 to ensure the nation was given the opportunity to publicly demonstrate their appreciation for the sacrifices and successes made by our service members – past and present. Each year the president makes a proclamation, reminding Americans of the important role the U.S. Armed Forces have played in the history and development of our country.
