On Tuesday, January 10, 2012, S.D. Sawyer will be guest speaker at Hanover’s Lion Club dinner-meeting at Bay City Restaurant in Hanover, Pa. The dinner, scheduled for 6:15 p.m., will be followed by Sawyer’s comments about her new novel, Prelude to Reveille: A Vietnam Awakening. The novel, a tribute to Vietnam era veterans and their families, is historical fiction. A Waiting Wife during her husband’s service as a combat platoon leader in Vietnam, Sawyer’s novel closely follows their experiences before and after his deployment. She will be autographing copies of her book at the end of the program. Portions of the proceeds from the book sales will be sent to two non-profit organizations that provide services to Vietnam and other military veterans— Fisher House, and Vets Journey Home.
